A little about me…

Hello! My name is Sadie, I’m an illustrator & potter based out of Rochester, New York. I love to create anything colorful, textured, and fantastical! My work explores worlds filled with plant life, patterns, and sometimes “head-scratching mystery”. You may wonder “why is everyone eating bread?” or “is that really what a sheep looks like?”, and I can assure you, I have been wondering that as well.

I got my BFA in Animation/Illustration in 2022 and have been illustrating ever since. My first book was “Rockies In My Pockies”, a children’s picture book I wrote during my junior year. After pitching that book to different publishers, I landed my first illustration contract with a self-publishing company in Lockport, NY. Since then, I have done several books for them in various genres, as well as, other freelance book projects that will be released over the next couple of years.

Most of my work has been created digitally, but my true passion is in mixed media illustration. With the purchase of a brand new box of Crayola crayons, I have begun work on my traditional media children’s book portfolio. My process includes alcohol markers, colored pencils, and crayons. As I’m sure you can imagine, my desk gets pretty cluttered during each project! I need to see all of the colors available so that I can maintain my workflow - plus the colors make me happy ;)

FUN FACTS:

- Ironically, I am allergic to crayons! However, the texture they create is so nice that I will not stop using them.
- Short animated films are my go-to for entertainment, oddly enough, the saddest plots interest me the most.
- Since 2021, I have illustrated a total of 12 books. A couple of which will be released in the next few years.
- My top 3 favorite artists right now are P.J Lynch, Vanessa Gillings, and Júlia Sardà.
